Early Life and Background

Lisa Hogan was born in Dublin, Ireland. She grew up before beginning a career that would eventually take her into modelling, film and sculpture.

Her early professional life was quite different from the rural lifestyle shown on Clarkson’s Farm. She worked as a model before entering the entertainment industry, where she became associated with British actor and comedian John Cleese.

Although her television career has made her more widely recognizable, her Irish background remains an important part of her identity. She has spoken about her upbringing, previous career and family in interviews with Irish media.

Lisa Hogan’s Career Before Clarkson’s Farm

Modelling and Acting

Hogan worked as a model before pursuing acting. One of her most recognizable film credits is the 1997 comedy Fierce Creatures, which starred John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline and Michael Palin.

She played a sea lion keeper in the film. Although she did not pursue a lengthy Hollywood acting career, the production became an important part of her professional history.

Sculpture and Art

Hogan also developed a career as a sculptor, producing figurative work, including sculptures inspired by animals.

Her artistic background later influenced her approach to developing products for Diddly Squat Farm Shop. In a 2024 interview, she explained that she had temporarily stepped away from sculpture to concentrate on the farm business, including its homeware, candles and fragrances.

Surviving a Plane Crash in 1996

One of the most remarkable events in Hogan’s life occurred on August 13, 1996, when she survived a private aircraft accident near RAF Northolt in west London.

She was travelling from Majorca to London on a Learjet when the aircraft overshot the runway, broke through the airfield fence and collided with a vehicle on the nearby A40.

Hogan, the aircraft’s only passenger, escaped with relatively minor injuries.

During a 2024 radio interview, she recalled the terrifying moments inside the aircraft and described how she escaped onto the road after the crash. The experience occurred while she was involved in the production of Fierce Creatures.

Lisa Hogan and Jeremy Clarkson’s Relationship

Hogan and Clarkson began their relationship in 2017 after meeting through mutual friends.

Their relationship eventually brought Hogan into Clarkson’s farming venture in Oxfordshire. When Clarkson’s Farm premiered in 2021, audiences saw the couple working together while dealing with agricultural challenges, animals and the everyday demands of running a business.

Hogan has a practical role on the farm and frequently challenges Clarkson’s ambitious ideas. Their contrasting personalities and shared sense of humour are a recurring feature of the series.

The couple have not publicly announced a marriage. In a 2024 interview, Hogan joked about the prospect of a wedding while discussing life on the farm.

Lisa Hogan’s Children and Previous Marriage

Before her relationship with Clarkson, Hogan was married to Steven Bentinck, with whom she has three children.

She has spoken about motherhood and her previous marriage in interviews, although her children generally remain outside the television programme.

Clarkson also has three children from his previous marriage. Their family lives are largely separate from the agricultural storylines that appear on Clarkson’s Farm.

Her Role at Diddly Squat Farm

Hogan co-founded Diddly Squat Farm Shop in 2020 and is responsible for its management.

The business sells farm produce and branded products, with Hogan involved in product development, retail operations and relationships with local suppliers.

Her responsibilities extend beyond appearing on television. She helps develop merchandise, fragrances and homeware while balancing the commercial needs of the shop with the practical difficulties of running a farm.

Her work has also led to a publishing career. Her book My Animals and Other Eejits, published in November 2025, explores life at Diddly Squat, from managing the shop to dealing with animals and the unpredictable farming calendar.
